Darío Verdugo

Darío Verdugo founded the management advisory firm Value Creation Initiatives, LLC (“VCI”) in 2006. With deep expertise in both strategy and hands-on transaction execution, VCI transcends the conventional categories of consulting. He advocates creating economic value through sound strategy and business practices applied to the “Extended Enterprise” (Focusing beyond the internal aspects of the Company).

He retired from DaimlerChrysler in 2006 after a successful automotive career with responsibilities spanning diverse areas domestically and internationally. At his last position he was the senior executive for Mergers & Acquisition (M&A) for DaimlerChrysler Corp. He also held senior management positions at Ford Motor Co and, Chrysler Corp. In these companies played senior roles in the areas of corporate finance, funding, corporate strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A). His experience has included North America, Far East (Korea, Japan, and China), Europe (Germany), Middle East (Turkey), and South America (Brazil and Argentina) – where he established manufacturing and marketing presence. He also established a marketing subsidiary for Chile.

Darío has been a big proponent of Knowledge Management in the M&A area – Key note speaker in Knowledge forums in France, The Netherlands and Switzerland, and co-author of a book in Knowledge Management for Banking published in Germany (“Management der Ressource Wissen in Banken”).

Darío, received his Economics’ degree and CPA from the University of Chile (Ingeniero Comercial), MBA from the University of California at Berkeley, and sabbatical at the University of Cambridge (Wolfson College), England as a visiting fellow.

Gonzalo Verdugo

Gonzalo Verdugo, is a business and technology strategy consultant, focuses on expanding the markets of rolling stock and infrastructure component manufacturers in China and the US. He is also an Advisory Board member of Axion International, a US-based company which transforms recycled consumer and industrial plastics into rail and road infrastructure components. In this role, he provides council to the CEO on their expansion into South America and negotiates with potential local trading partners and government regulators.

Prior to joining VCI, he had an extensive career in management consulting, advising large organizations in every industry on business strategy and technology management. Previous positions include Partner at KPMG, Vice President at Gemini Consulting, Partner at CSC Consulting, and more recently, Director at Deloitte Consulting. In addition, he has played leadership roles in a number of technology services startups. Throughout his career, he has worked with senior level relationships in multiple industries in the US, Europe, South America and Australia.

Gonzalo applies his broad business, technology and multinational perspective with a hands-on style.

A Chilean at birth, his education includes an Economics’ degree and CPA from the University of Chile (Ingeniero Comercial), an MBA from the University of Chile, a post graduate diploma from INSEAD, France, and the Harvard Business School Doctoral Program (ABD). Though residing in the US, at present he spends significant professional time in Latin America.
